RVMBA Is Seeking New Board Members

Are you a mountain biker and interested in being more involved with RVMBA? We are currently seeking a few new board members to fill vacant positions. Please email us at info@rvmba.org with more info if you are interested.

RVMBA is a working board that is focused on building and maintaining a world-class system of mountain bike trails that support and enhance the physical, mental and economic health of Rogue Valley communities.

Board meetings are once a month and board member commitments are a minimum of 2 years.

Communications Director:

The duties and responsibilities of the communications director are to efficiently communicate RVMBA news with members and the general public through social media channels, email, and/or phone/text messages.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Instagram and Facebook accounts

  • Post to Instagram at least once per week, and Facebook for more significant news distribution

  • Gather information for and write an RVMBA newsletter, aiming for 6-10 newsletters per year.

  • Collaborate with Events Director and Membership Director to ensure their messages are created and posted to Facebook, Instagram, Website, and Email.

    • These posts would not be considered newsletters unless multiple topics are covered. 

  • Respond to emails via the info@rvmba.org in a timely manner

  • Report to board any comments, concerns, or questions received if the questions can’t be answered by the director

  • Actively promote and build excitement for events with leadup posts, posts during events, and event recaps

  • Seek out media from other board members and/or directors for social media posts.

Events Director:

The duties and responsibilities of an Event Coordinator center on planning and managing events of varying sizes and purposes. Coordinators have to understand what it takes to make sure the logistics work out, keep everything within the allocated budget and ensure that the event itself is carried out smoothly. Here are the most essential duties and responsibilities:

 Responsibilities:

  • Plan a schedule of events based on RVMBA’s annual goals and calendar.

  • Identify requirements and expectations for each event.

  • Ensure that each event has a goal and is planned and executed to support it.

    • (e.i. Community engagement, fundraising, membership sign-ups, etc.) 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, exhibitors, and participants during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order.

  • Manage all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes.

  • Maintain event budgets.

  • Assess each event’s overall success and submit findings.

Sponsorship & Fundraising Director:

The duties and responsibilities of the Sponsorship/Fundraising Director are to plan, manage and activate both sponsorship and fundraising opportunities to support strategic projects and goals of RVMBA.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed and actively seek out grant opportunities that could be applicable to RVMBAs Strategic Goals and Projects.

  • Write, delegate and/or oversee upcoming grant opportunities to make sure that grants are continually being applied for.

  • Project manage the construction of RVMBA grant applications writing to ensure they are written (by board or hired help) reviewed, submitted on time

  • Plan and activate seasonal and project-specific fundraising drives with our community and local businesses.

  • Bring new fundraising and sponsorship ideas to the board with plans on how to execute them.

  • Track fundraising targets and timing of all projects and goals

  • Collaborate with the Communications Director with monthly or seasonal updates so we can communicate with RVMBA members on the status of our fundraising.

Trails Director: 

The duties and responsibilities of the trails director role are to monitor the condition of all RVMBA managed trails and then activate and manage all trail-work days to keep trails maintained and develop new ones. The Trails Director must be a proactive communicator who is comfortable maintaining and guiding numerous conversations with community members and Trail Bosses simultaneously.

Responsibilities: 

  • Organizes and activates all RVMBA sponsored trail days.

    • Includes: food/drink coordinations, tool delivery, etc.

  • Presents all proposed trail updates, modifications and new trails to the board for approval prior to moving forward

  • Assigns and maintains point of contact communication with all Trail Bosses leading work parties.

  • Keeps an inventory of all RVMBA owned equipment and tools, upgrading or replacing equipment as needed. 

  • Collects images and hours from each trail day and delivers them to relevant board members for future use.

  • Overseas communications with all self-motivated trail builders in the community to provide guidance and capture hours worked.
