Butte Falls Trail Network

Officially known as the Fredenburg Butte Recreation Project. The potential trail network encompasses 430 acres of previously timber company managed land that surrounds the city of Butte Falls. The project would create an outdoor recreation hot spot, including a redesigned day-use area, campground, and most importantly for mountain bikers, up to 40 miles of new trails. And it’ll be Class 1 e-bike friendly, to maximize accessibility. The valley has been in need of a venue for youth competitions and the project’s addition of overnight areas could finally make this possible.

Butte Falls had a public meeting in November 2023 to present the plans and solicit feedback from the public. The project has reached the federal review process and is in pursuit of a NEPA analysis and registration to ensure the sustainability of the system in the Butte Falls area.
